The yoga classes are for all levels, from beginners on the mat for the first time to experienced yogis who want to deepen their practice.
Included daily is a yoga class, breakfast, a restorative yoga class with pranayama and meditation, lunch, an afternoon snack, dinner, accommodation, a whale and dolphin watching boat excursion, a guided forest hike, a visit to Lake Eland Game Reserve overlooking Oribi Gorge (activities a zipline and a suspension bridge) and enough time left to enjoy the beach and relax.

ACCOMMODATION
During this retreat, you will stay at Pumula Retreat. In Isizulu, (the provincial language) Pumula means “place of rest” and you’ll experience this feeling as soon as you enter the property. Stroll around our 5 acres of garden and find peace among the trees.
The bedrooms are spacious and have magnificent valley and sea views. The large lounge offers space to relax, read books, play games or play a musical instrument. You are sure to love the classic, retro decor of this beautiful house. The upstairs area has a covered balcony overlooking the valley and sea and a large back terrace to enjoy the afternoon sun. Relax by the pool in one of the sun loungers or snooze in the hammocks under the trees.
The accommodation can welcome up to 15 guests, (8 guests in the main house, 5 guests in the cottage, and 2 in the jungle apartment). All rooms have filtered water, ceiling fans, organic soap, and fresh towels.
Pumula Retreat borders a forest and is only 10 minutes away from the beach.

Excursion days (boat trip, hike, and Oribi Gorge/Lake Eland) will be decided closer to the time, they are included in the price.
The guided 5km hike will be in and around the forest of Pumula Retreat.
The boat excursion is an experience you will never forget. Humpback and Southern Right Wales can frequently be seen off the coast during this time. The thrill of seeing these magnificent creatures close up in their natural habitat is very special and a real privilege. Bottlenose Dolphins are common residents of the South Coast, with pods of 30-50 dolphins, surfing the waves and jumping clear from the water.
Lake Eland Game Reserve is a 5000-acre game reserve overlooking the Oribi Gorge. You can enjoy game viewing and spot zebra, giraffe, eland, wildebeest, and bushbuck. Lake Eland also offers the Zip Line Tour which includes 14 slides over 4.7km that give you breathtaking views over the gorge. Another highlight is walking across the 80m suspension bridge, you’ll be amazed by the magnificence and grandeur of the Oribi Gorge.RETREAT LOCATION
Pumula Retreat is a forest & beach wellness venue situated on the subtropical East Coast of South Africa, 120 km south of Durban, in the Umzumbe area. The large property boasts breathtaking sea views, has direct access to the forest, and is only 10 minutes away from the beach. This quiet environment offers privacy and spectacular natural surroundings. The South Coast boasts sunny weather all year around and the warm Indian Ocean allows for a swim even in the South African winter! The large garden full of trees enables the guests peace and tranquillity as well as a connection with nature. Spot the local wildlife such as duiker and bushbuck (local antelope) and look out for the big variety of birdlife.

Monique Weschta – Biography
Monique is a distinguished and internationally recognized instructor with 27 years of experience in Iyengar Yoga. Her deep commitment to yoga as a means of enhancing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being is evident in her adherence to Patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga. Monique began her Iyengar Yoga journey in 1997 under the guidance of David Jacobs and earned her certification as an Iyengar Yoga teacher in 2009. In 2010, she had the privilege of studying at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune, India, where she received instruction from members of the Iyengar family, including the renowned BKS Iyengar.
Since 2015, Monique has been hosting yoga retreats, with events in South Africa and Greece, and she plans to offer a yoga holiday in Morocco in 2026. In addition to her role as a yoga teacher, she is also a dedicated health and wellness coach, sincerely committed to enhancing people’s lives. Outside of her professional work, Monique enjoys beekeeping and spending time in nature.
